Engineers from the Bridge Division under the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MoIT), Thimphu, along with the Gewog Engineer, conducted a site survey today for the proposed construction of a Bailey bridge over Chewchu.
The survey marks an important step towards improving connectivity and ensuring safer and more reliable access for the communities of Tanga and surrounding areas, particularly during the monsoon season when the river often becomes a major challenge for transportation and movement.
The public of Tanga village actively supported and assisted the technical team during the site survey. Their cooperation and participation are greatly appreciated and reflect the strong community support for this much-needed infrastructure.
Following the survey at Chewchu, the team will also visit Sektena to assess and survey the proposed site for the construction of another Bailey bridge over Somchu, which will connect Sektena and Fentena. The proposed bridge is expected to significantly improve connectivity, facilitate the movement of people and essential goods, and provide a safer alternative route for the communities, especially during emergencies and periods of heavy rainfall.

𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐬𝐞 𝐋𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠

The Salang Tendrel ceremony for the reconstruction of Rangtse Lhakhang was successfully conducted yesterday. The auspicious ceremony was presided over by the Honourable Lam Neten of Haa Dratshang, with the presence of Dasho Drungpa and Dasho Drangpon of Sangbaykha Drungkhag, who graced the occasion.
The ceremony was also attended by sector heads of Gakiling Gewog and the people of Rangtse Chiwog, who came together to mark this important milestone for the community.
Adding to the auspiciousness of the occasion, a beautiful circular rainbow appeared around the sun. In Bhutanese belief, such a phenomenon is considered a good omen and a sign of blessings and auspicious beginnings.
The reconstruction of Rangtse Lhakhang is funded by the Government of India (GoI). May this sacred endeavour be blessed with peace, prosperity, and success, and may the Lhakhang continue to serve as a place of faith, harmony, and spiritual wellbeing for generations to come.

The Hon’ble NC MP Dasho D**o Tsheringla visited Gakiling Gewog yesterday and met with the public of Rangtse Chiwog as part of the constituency visit.
During the visit, the Gewog Administration presented the budget and progress for FY 2025–2026 and the plans for FY 2026–2027. The Hon’ble Member appreciated and applauded the work and progress made by the Gewog Administration.
The Hon’ble Member also briefed the public on recent deliberations of the National Council and government initiatives, including incentives for third children and the proposed enhancement of rural life insurance benefits.
In the afternoon, the Hon’ble Member visited Rangtse Primary School and met with the Principal, teachers, staff and students. The visit provided an opportunity to interact with the school community and understand their concerns and aspirations.
The visit is part of the Hon’ble Member’s ongoing constituency visit to engage with the people and assess development activities and issues on the ground.

GMC Volunteer Engagement – Seventh Round

The seventh round of GMC volunteer engagement will take place from 28–30 August 2026, inviting Bhutanese citizens to come together in support of His Majesty’s vision for Gelephu Mindfulness City.

This round will focus on landscape development and environmental enhancement, including activities around the 108 Chortens, Gelephu Old Town, the existing airport road and other areas across Gelephu.

Improvement works on 5 km of the Gewog Centre Road are currently underway. The scope of work includes permanent infrastructure such as retaining walls and drainage systems, along with blacktopping of the road. The works are being carried out by Lotay Construction and are expected to be completed by December 2026.

The Gakiling Gewog bid a heartfelt farewell to Mr. Budh Bir S***a, Gewog Driver of Gakiling Gewog, marking the completion of five years of dedicated and valuable service.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. Buddha served the Gewog with commitment, responsibility, and sincerity. As a driver, his role went far beyond simply transporting people and materials-he was an important part of the Gewog’s day-to-day operations, often working behind the scenes to ensure that official duties and services were carried out smoothly. His reliability, helpful nature, and willingness to serve will be fondly remembered by the officials, colleagues, and people of Gakiling Gewog. Five years of service is a meaningful contribution, and we sincerely appreciate the time, effort, and dedication he has given to the Gewog.

Thank you for your years of dedicated service. You will be missed, and your contributions will always be remembered.
