Result of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Assessment 2026

Coinciding with World Day for Safety and Health at Work (28th April), the Department of Labour is pleased to announce the results of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Assessment conducted during Marchโ€“April 2026. A total of 87 enterprises across multiple sectors were evaluated based on standardized national OHS compliance criteria.

The top three companies were awarded Certificates of Achievement in recognition of their outstanding performance. In addition, enterprises that secured 70% and above were awarded Certificates of Recognition under two performance categories: the Excellent OHS Practice Award was conferred to 4 enterprises achieving scores of 80% and above, while the Good OHS Practice Award was granted to 11 enterprises scoring between 70% and 79%.

These recognitions are aimed at acknowledging enterprises that have demonstrated robust and effective OHS management systems, contributing to safer and healthier workplaces.

The Department continues to carry out annual assessments of enterprises with established OHS Committees to strengthen regulatory compliance and institutionalize safety culture. The overarching objective is to drive sustained improvements through awareness, capacity building, and performance-based recognition.

The Department congratulates the 15 enterprises that have achieved commendable OHS standards this year and encourages all organizations to continuously enhance their safety practices.

Press Release

Thimphu, Bhutan | 16 April 2026

The Royal Government informs the public that fuel import costs have continued to increase, with the rise in diesel prices being of particular concern. This is especially significant because diesel is a critical input for transport, construction, distribution and other key economic activities, and as such, it has a direct impact on the prices of food, essential commodities, and a wide range of services across the economy.

In response, and in line with the National Fuel Price Smoothening Framework (NFPSF) introduced on 21 March 2026, with effect from midnight of 16 April 2026, the new retail selling price will be maintained at Nu. 102.90 per litre for petrol and Nu. 98.31 per litre for diesel in Thimphu. To support these prices, the Government will provide fuel price support of Nu. 8.19 per litre for petrol and Nu. 101.35 per litre for diesel.

The Government has spent Nu. 492 million till 16 April, 2026, as a price support. At the revised price, it is estimated that the Government will spend an additional Nu. 1.2 billion per month. This displays the Governmentโ€™s resolute commitment for ensuring stable prices for goods and services, especially food, to reduce the negative impact on household income, and to ensure fiscal sustainability and macroeconomic stability.

In continuation of the measures established under Executive Order C2/2026/1146 dated 2 April 2026, the Royal Government reiterates the urgent need for collective national solidarity in reducing fossil fuel consumption. All public agencies and the general public are therefore directed to intensify their efforts to reduce fossil fuel consumption. In particular, agencies must continue to prioritize:
1. Alternative Commuting: Implementing โ€œwalk-to-workโ€ initiatives for staff where feasible.
2. Travel Restrictions: Strictly avoiding all non-essential official travel.
3. Remote Operations: Utilizing remote work arrangements to minimize the use of government pool vehicles

The Royal Government extends a formal appeal to the private sector and the general public to adopt similar prudent measures.

Warmly welcoming our new Assistant Trade Officer, Mr. Leki Zangpo to the Regional Office of Industry, Commerce and Emplo...
