✅ National Council member of Punakha Dzongkhag visits Guma Gewog

🔊 Hon’ble Dasho Namgay R Dorji, member of National Council for Punakha dzongkhag met with people of Lakhu and Docho-Ritsa chiwog in the morning and Phulingsum and Changyul-Tashijong chiwog in the afternoon. During the meeting, Dasho presented:
1. Responses to the recommendation of the 34th session of National Council
2. Recommendations of 35th session of the National Council including
- Rural life insurance scheme
- Youth and substance abuse
- Ammendment of penal code of Bhutan 2004
- State of tourism in Bhutan
3. Bills of 35th session
4. Agenda for 36th session
Above all, our people got an opportunity to raise concern and provide recommendations for upcoming session of National Council, the concerns that truly reflect the realities of our local community.

✅The Honourable Lyonpo Namgay Dorji, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Employment, visited our Gewog today and held a public meeting with the community in the morning. During the session, Lyonpo addressed and discussed several important agendas, including:
1. Rural Life Insurance
2. Land Tax
3. Economic Stimulus Plan
4. Rural Household Timber Permit
5. Status of Hydropower Projects
6. Ongoing Developmental Activities in the Gewog
7. Issues and Challenges faced by the Gewog
8.Gelephu Mindfulness City
9. Emigration issues
10. National Plans and Policies and many more

In the afternoon, the Honourable Lyonpo made field visits to various sites, beginning with the ongoing chain-link fencing at Lakhu, followed by an inspection of the Dzomlingthang Development Park, the widening works along the Punakha Highway, and finally the Craft Market at Khuruthang.

We the people of Guma Gewog would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Honourable Lyonpo for his gracious visit and update on pertinent issues addressing the concerns of our local community. Moreover, we pay deep gratitude for offering us with refreshments on such hot sunny days.

Special thanks goes to Dumra Resort for arranging and serving scrumptious lunch!

The Dzongkhag Administration, Punakha is pleased to announce the general public about the development of the Zomlingthang Park. Infrastructure development and landscaping activities have already commenced at the site. While we greatly appreciate the interest shown by visitors, we are equally mindful of the safety risks posed by the ongoing works.

Accordingly, this is to notify the public that Zomlingthang will remain closed until the completion of the developmental works. We kindly request your understanding and cooperation in ensuring safety and facilitating the timely completion of this important project. With your support, we will be able to open Zomlingthang as an attractive and safe recreational space for everyone to enjoy in the near future.

🔊Gewog Tshogde held for Fy 2025- 2026✅

Coinciding with an auspicious day, Gewog administration convened a Gewog Tshogde in a simple ceremony today. The program commenced with zhudray phuensum followed by merchang ceremony and then opening remarks by thrizin and sensitisation on budget notification for FY 2025-2026 and Annual grant guidelines by Tshogde secretary. The Gewog Tshogde deliberated and finalised the plan activities within the approved budget based on the priority of Gewog.

Today officials from the Department of Local Governance and Disaster Management(DLGDM) visited our Gewog and met with Gewog officials to discuss and gather information for their ongoing research titled Social Vulnerability Assessment Project.

The project aim to assess social vulnerability through five key parameters: hazard, exposure, socio-economic conditions, presence of vulnerable populations, and the community’s ability to cope during natural disasters.

The Gewog Administration would like to express sincere gratitude to the visiting team for their valuable time, insightful discussions, and efforts in strengthening disaster preparedness through evidence-based research at a grassroot level.

📢Inauguration of SDP-Funded Blacktopping Project :Dochokha and Ritsa Farm Roads

The Gewog Administration held a simple inauguration ceremony for newly blacktopped Dochokha and Ritsa Farm Roads, funded under the Small Development Project (SDP).

The event was graced by His Excellency Lyonpo Namgay Dorji, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Employment, accompanied by Honourable Dasho Dzongdag of Punakha, Venerable Dho Jagar Lam, the contractor, site engineer, and local residents.
The blacktopping marks a key milestone in improving rural connectivity and is expected to benefit around 47 households.

The Gewog Administration extends heartfelt gratitude to the Royal Government of Bhutan , SDP donors, and all stakeholders involved in successful implementation of these project.

📢Dochokha and Ritsa Farm Road Blacktopping Handing Taking ✅

On 13th June 2025, the Gewog Tender Committee successfully conducted handing-taking of two completed blacktopping projects: 1.5 km of Dochokha Farm Road and 700 meters of Ritsa Farm Road, funded under the Small Development Project (SDP).

Executing Firm: M/s Druk Phuensum Construction
Contract Duration: 6 months
Project Value: Nu. 7.00 million (Dochokha Farm Road) and Nu. 4.20 million (Ritsa Farm Road)
Total Beneficiaries: 47 households.
