Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde is headed by a Thrompon (elected Mayor) supported by civil servants headed by the Executive Secretary. The present Thrompon is Karma Sherab Thobyal, the first elected Thrompon of the Thromde. He was elected on 21st Janaury 2011 and will serve a term of five years.
