20 August 2026: 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭
The Bhutan National Legal Institute (BNLI) successfully facilitated an institutional study visit for members of the School Law Club of Shari Higher Secondary School, Paro, providing students with direct, practical exposure to Bhutan’s judicial administration and court procedures.
The students observed live proceedings at the Supreme Court of Bhutan and the High Court, gaining key insights into trial management, judicial reasoning, and appellate jurisdiction. During the visit, students engaged in interactive sessions with the Hon’ble Justices of the Supreme Court and High Court, who shared professional perspectives on judicial integrity, statutory interpretation, and the administration of justice.
As part of the program, the Director General of BNLI conducted a specialized session integrating legal theory with cultural jurisprudence. The session highlighted the nexus between Bhutan’s modern legal system, traditional dispute resolution mechanisms, and the philosophical underpinnings of the 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒐 𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒆𝒅𝒓𝒐𝒆𝒍, demonstrating how indigenous values inform contemporary legal standards while opening new perspectives on legal education and career opportunities.
Established in 2012, the School Law Club Program is designed to “𝒏𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒍𝒂𝒘-𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒛𝒆𝒏” by cultivating civic responsibility, enhancing constitutional literacy, and instilling respect for the rule of law among youth across the Kingdom.
