We are delighted to see tourism events and festivals benefit local communities.

The Black-necked Crane Farewell Festival in Trashiyangtse generated Nu 1.12 million through homestays, local stalls and an eco-lodge, contributing Nu 140,000, Nu 600,000 and Nu 32,000 respectively, while Nu 350,000 came from the sale of local products such as dapa, desho, millet, local wine and others. Of course, a lot is un-captured but have huge benefit.

Five community festivals in eastern dzongkhags generated Nu 16.19 million and attracted more than 49,000 visitors this year, directly benefiting homestays, food stalls, and local businesses in some of the country’s most remote communities.
