Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress

Dear Women of Botswana,

As a Member of Parliament representing Jwaneng Mabutsane, it is with great pride and admiration that I address you today. In our pursuit of national advancement, it is crucial to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of women throughout our history.

Botswana stands tall on the foundations of Botho Thokgamo Botswerere, where the dedication and resilience of women have played an indelible role. From tending to the land to nurturing our children, women have been the backbone of our society, enabling progress even in the face of adversity.

In our early days, while men dug for diamonds and tended to cattle, it was the tireless efforts of women that sustained our communities and laid the groundwork for prosperity. Today, we see this legacy reflected in the achievements of remarkable women such as Neo Bogatsu, Keabetswe Pheko-Moshagane, Catherine Lesetedi, Lesego Chombo, Naledi Magowe Palese Molefe, Bogolo Kenewendo, Faith Mabu Nteta, Emma Warius, Mpule Kwelagobe, Dr. Tendani Gaolathe, Gogontlejang Phaladi, Sethebe ManakeLillian Moremi, Thato Angela Chuma, Dr. Tlamelo Setshwaelo, Prof. Sheila Tlou, Gaositwe Keagakwa, Nomsa Makgabenyana, Tibe Chiepe, Unity Dow, and countless others.

Their strides internationally not only bring pride to our nation but also place us firmly on the global map. They exemplify the spirit of Botswana – one of resilience, innovation, and inclusivity.

As we look to the future, let us reaffirm our commitment to investing in the potential of all women. By empowering and supporting them, we not only accelerate progress but also enrich the fabric of our nation.

Together, let us continue to build a Botswana where every woman is empowered to reach her fullest potential, and where her contributions are valued and celebrated.
