CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The Botswana Federation of Public, Private & Parastatal Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU), Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU), Institute for Labour and Employment Studies - ILES(ILES), and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) hereby invite applications for the 3rd Winter School for Young Labour Activists, to be held from June 25-27 2026 in Selebi-Phikwe.

This Winter School aims to equip young trade unionists with skills, knowledge, and practical tools to strengthen their participation in everyday trade union work. The programme will also explore pathways towards building stronger and more democratic trade unions, advancing the protection of labour rights, and promoting regional and global cooperation and solidarity.

Selection Criteria
Final selection will be guided by the following:
β€’ Gender balance
β€’ Fair representation of unions
β€’ Fair representation of both private and public sector participants
β€’ Proven track record of trade union activism
β€’ Applicants must be based in Greater Selebi-Phikwe (due to budgetary constraints).
β€’ Applicants from other parts of the country are welcome but must be sponsored by their union
β€’ Applicants and their organisations must be in good standing with BFTU/BOFEPUSU affiliates
β€’ Applicants must submit:
o A CV (including union activism and leadership involvement)
o A motivation letter outlining why they wish to attend the Winter School
