President Duma Boko concluded his state visit to Angola, Botswana’s interest in a 30% stake in the Lobito Oil Refinery remains under negotiation, with no final decision yet taken. The visit, however, has opened a new chapter in the two countries’ 50-year relationship, shifting the focus from political goodwill to trade, investment and energy security.

Africa Amnesty Month, an African Union initiative launched in 2017, forms part of the “Silencing the Guns” agenda to reduce the illicit possession and circulation of fi****ms and other weapons in Africa.

This programme examines the progress Botswana has made in encouraging members of the public to surrender illegal and unregistered fi****ms.

The discussion will also explore whether illegally held fi****ms have been linked to crime and violence in Botswana, and what members of the public should do if they are in possession of an unregistered or unlawfully held fi***rm.
