The Ministry of Communications and Innovation provides an update on the ongoing system outage affecting certain Government ICT systems.
Technical teams have identified the fault and are implementing recovery protocols. The outage affects several non-EBS Government systems, resulting in temporary disruptions to the following public services:
ο‚·Department of Road Transport and Safety (DRTS): Vehicle Registration and Licensing System (VRLS) and the Road Transport Permit and Roadworthiness Certificate System (RTPRCS)
ο‚·Independent Electoral Commission (IEC): Elections Management System (EMS)
ο‚·Department of Social Protection: Social Benefits and Reconciliation System (SOBERS)
ο‚·Department of Secondary Education: Form IV Selection System
System recovery is in progress. Services will be restored incrementally beginning today, Friday, 25 September 2026, until all departments are fully operational. The public should expect temporary delays or brief service interruptions during this period.
The Ministry is working with technical teams and affected institutions to expedite recovery and minimize inconvenience. We regret the disruption and thank the public for their patience and cooperation as we restore full system functionality.

MINISTER ENGAGES DIT OFFICERS IN KANYE

The Minister of Communications and Innovation, Honourable David Tshere and the Permanent Secreatry Mr. Cecil Masiga met and engaged with officers from the Department of Information Technology (DIT) deployed in Kanye District.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the Minister to interact directly with staff and discuss key matters affecting their work, including staff welfare, human resources matters and updates on the Ministry’s programmes and priorities.

The Minister emphasised the importance of maintaining open communication with staff and ensuring that officers at district level remain informed, supported and aligned with the Ministry’s mandate.

The engagement is part of the Ministry’s continued efforts to strengthen communication and collaboration with its officers across the country.
