Yesterday, essential health services were directly brought to senior citizens collecting their pensions at Mathubantwa Post Office in Goo Kodisa Ward, Molepolole.

This initiative, hosted by Bonewamang Area Councillor, Hon. Kenna Odirile, provided free health screenings, health education and wellness advice. Hon. Odirile said this initiative was inspired by the large number of elderly people who collect their old-age pensions at the post office which is situated in his ward. This programme aimed to provide health screenings while they wait, raise awareness on diseases, and promote preventive healthcare and healthy lifestyles. He also called for improved facilities at the post office to ensure elderly beneficiaries have a safe, accessible and dignified environment while accessing services.

When giving the welcome remarks Kgosi Kgari III commended this Initiative and urged Botswana Post to strengthen healthcare initiatives, including supporting the proposed National Health Insurance Scheme. He applauded the participation of the healthcare professionals who volunteered their expertise to educate and provide services to the elderly.

Hon. John Mmadintsi a Health committee chairperson urged senior citizens to prioritize preventive care, avoid heavy work, and seek medical help early. He also called on families to support elders with medication and clinic visits.

Botswana Post Value center General Manager Mr Bogatsu assured participants that the post office remains committed to improving the safety and accessibility of its facilities. He highlighted that plans are underway to prioritise non monetary services at the forefront as a way of improving service delivery. He further said that he Post Office will work with leadership and stakeholders to improve facilities.

When giving a vote of thanks Molepolole South MP Honourable Shima Monageng reaffirmed Government’s commitment to senior citizens, announcing plans to increase the old-age pension to P1,800. He commended organizers and called on Botswana Post, Council, and the private sector to collaborate on improving post office infrastructure to make it safer and more dignified for elders.

The initiative highlighted the importance of bringing essential healthcare services closer to communities, particularly older persons, by meeting them where they already access other vital public.

On Saturday, the Molepolole UCCSA Church was filled with joy and anticipation as members of the congregation, community leaders, and invited guests gathered to witness the official launch of three important initiatives: the Water Purification Project, the Church Wall Project, and the three-year education partnership with Bonewamang Primary School. Molepolole South Constituency MP HON Shima Monageng and KDC Chairman HON Ontefetse Rankhibidu, accompanied HON Minister Edwin Dikoloti to this event.

The Guest of Honour, Hon Dr Edwin Gorataone Dikoloti, delivered an inspiring speech centred on the theme, "Advancing the Mission through Innovation." He praised the church for demonstrating that innovation is not only about new technology but about finding meaningful ways to serve God and improve people's lives.

Hon. Dikoloti described the Water Purification Project as a symbol of hope and sustainability. He noted that by providing clean, safe drinking water while generating income for the church, the project reflects responsible stewardship and genuine care for the community. The MP for Molepolole South encouraged members of the congregation and Kweneng District Council to support the Church water project by purchasing the water bottled by the church.

Speaking about the Church Wall Project, he explained that it represented much more than bricks and mortar. Like the walls rebuilt by Nehemiah in the Bible, it stood as a sign of protection, growth and a commitment to preserving the church's legacy for future generations. The magnificent and state of the art boundary wall was built at around around P600 000.00, as the church plot is huge. What a day!
