TLOKWENG COUNCIL: STRONGER TOGETHER!

Today, we didn’t just show up, we showed out!

The Tlokweng District Council successfully hosted its District Wellness Day today, and the energy at Tlokweng Recreational Park was absolutely electric!

From the early morning walk starting at the Rural Administration Centre (RAC) to the high-energy aerobics and the thrilling Choir & Drama competitions, our workforce proved one thing: When we are healthy, we are unstoppable.

Under the theme "Healthy Mind, Productive Worker," we took a stand for our mental and physical well being. Today was about more than just exercise, it was about unity, talent, and building a resilient team ready to serve our community with excellence.

A massive thank you to every department that participated and made this day a roaring success!

LEADERSHIP IN ACTION: HONOURABLE BOGATSU TAKES DEVELOPMENT TO THE PEOPLE

This past Thursday, Council Chairperson Honourable Ontiretse Tumi Bogatsu rolled up her sleeves and went straight to the people of Khollwane Ward, because real leadership happens on the ground, not in boardrooms!

Accompanied by Kgosi Keaganne Kwenena and ward councilor Hon.Naledi Maotoanong, she listened, she assessed, and she acted.

THE CHALLENGES ARE REAL:

● Stormwater damage has been wreaking havoc on homes and properties, but help is on the way! Contractors have ALREADY started constructing drainage channels to protect the community.

● Crime is a concern—residents need a police station closer to them, and Honourable Bogatsu heard that cry loud and clear.

● Signage and fencing at the Kgotla are basic needs that must be addressed for the dignity and safety of the community.

BUT HERE'S THE GOOD NEWS:

● The Village Development Committee is working hand in hand with the council, and Honourable Bogatsu commended their partnership.

● Open spaces in the middle of the village will SOON be allocated to Motswana citizens, submit your applications while the call is open!

● Ikageng will deliver results in the short term, with plans to train workers in valuable skills like sewing, empowerment through practical education!

● Residents were encouraged to consult the council's building department before constructing, to ensure proper planning that prevents future flooding disasters.

A CALL TO ACTION:

Honourable Bogatsu challenged the people of Khollwane to keep their environment clean because a clean community is a healthy and prosperous one. She also emphasized that despite financial constraints, the council is working tirelessly to procure equipment and resources for the benefit of all.

Ward councilor Hon Naledi Maotoanong closed by thanking the community for their unity and urged the Village Development Committee to think creatively about income generating projects because self reliance is the foundation of true development!

This is what servant leadership looks like. Listening. Acting. Delivering.

Well done to Honourable Bogatsu and her team for putting people first! Khollwane, your voice has been heard, let's work together to build a better future!
