What a spectacular day it was for the participants of Wonder Woman Challenge 2024.

Come out tomorrow at the Belize Coast Guard Base to cheer on the teams as they run a 6 miles road run, starting at 9:00am.

The Police 6 Pence are currently in third place!

The Belize Police Department is deeply saddened to announce the tragic loss of Police Constable No. 1829, Dylan Anthony, a dedicated member of our department. On Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, at approximately 8:47 p.m., Officer Anthony, 29, was fatally shot in Roaring Creek Village.

Officer Anthony, a resident of Camalote Village, served with honor and distinction in his duties to protect and serve the community. His commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of others will be remembered by his colleagues and the community he served.

The Belize Police Department is working diligently to investigate this senseless act of violence and bring those responsible to justice.

The Hon. Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries; the CEO, Sharole Saldivar-Carr, Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries; Commissioner of Police; Chester C. Williams, Deputy Commissioner; Bartholomew Jones; and Dr. A. Richard Rosado, the senior ranks and file of the Belize Police Department, extend their deepest condolences to Officer Anthony's family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.

Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact the Belize Police Department at 911 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 922.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Anthony's loved ones as we mourn his loss and honor his memory.

On Thursday, March 21st, 2024, the Eastern (Police) Division held its Women’s Month Symposium at the Belize Civic Center. The day kicked off with an inspection of the women police officers and civilian staff from the Eastern Division by the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, which was followed by the opening ceremony. In his remarks to the females, Compol Williams stated, “It was an honor and privilege to be present and celebrate Women’s Month, a month that is celebrated across the globe." He continued that women are special and that they must be celebrated more and more. In addition, within the Belize Police Department, women continue to demonstrate great leadership skills, and that is no longer a men’s world. In the end, under his administration, many women continued to be promoted. The day continued when senior women police officers like Suzette Anderson ACP, Sandra Bowden ACP., Ret. Police Officer Carol Tucker Supt., and other banking institutions and non-governmental organizations made presentations to the women who were in attendance.

On Wednesday, March 20th, 2024, Deputy Officer in Charge for the Administration for the Eastern (Police) Division, Dwayne Sutherland, Sr. Supt., accompanied the female police officer and civilian staff from the Eastern Division Headquarters, who distributed 2 food boxes to a retired police officer and civilian. On Wednesday, March 20th, 2024, the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, along with the Regional Commanders from North, South, East, and West, and the Belize Police Department Women’s Month Committee held a National Belize Police Department Award Ceremony at the Queen Street Police Station Training Room. In his remarks, Compol Williams addressed the awardees by encouraging them to continue the hard work they were doing and not to allow the day’s event to hinder them from stopping as other females in the department would step up and challenge them.

The awardees are Cpl. 1998 Carmella Cacho, Cpl. 2162 Shanice Bevans, and P.C. 2377 Myrna Pena.

On Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, the Officer Commanding the Placencia (Police) Formation, Alma Mortis ASP., along with the women from the formation, distributed food hampers to retired Corporal David Hyde and retired Justice of the Peace, Mrs. Barbara, by recognizing their contributions and service to the country. On Thursday, March 21st, 2014, in collaboration with Women's Month activities, the women police officers of Seine Bight Police Sub-station took the initiative of helping a family by painting and giving their home a face-lift. That help was given to retired Police Constable #180, Felix Augustine. Mr. Augustine served his country for over 17 years and retired in the year 2000. In the end, Mr. Augustine and his family were very happy and thanked the females for the wonderful work they were doing. In addition, the female officers generously gave out two food hamper boxes within the village. The recipients of the food boxes expressed their happiness and appreciation to the women for remembering them during this time as they celebrate Women's Month.

This morning, the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, conducted an inspection of the guard of honor to commence the Eastern (Police) Division Women’s Symposium as part of the Police Department Women’s Month activities, which are being celebrated under the theme “United Women, Advocating for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.” In addition, several females were awarded for the best dress, which was chosen by the Commissioner of Police.

On Monday, March 18th, 2024, after the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, concluded his weekly commander’s conference, they participated in a meet and greet session in the Kings Park neighborhood and Belama phases 4 and 5. Residents in the area were glad to have a one-on-one session where they aired their concerns and made suggestions to the police officers on how they could continue to collaborate for the good of the community. Finally, the residents appreciated the police officers' visit and encouraged them to continue their hard work.

On Saturday, March 16th, 2024, Community Policing Officers attached to the Belmopan (Police) Formation took 30 members of the Belmopan Police Youth Cadets to the Kiki Witz Resort, where they were engaged in an Easter egg hunt and sports. The purpose of the event is to keep the cadets motivated and to help them build relationships with other cadets from the different primary schools, regardless of their culture or ethnicity.
