UPDATE-SUMMERLAND FIRE- Faulder, Meadow valley.
When you wake up to a text message that reads “Are you still in the valley? 2 more fires 🔥🔥 at Darke lake”…. That gets your blood pumping and adrenaline spiking🙌. We jumped in the mighty duramax (“BIG DIRTY”) and off we went with 1000 litres of water, pumps and hoses to find Steve and put out some fires with him 💪🏻… fortunately for us- the helicopters spotted the fire and radio’d the ground crews to come, we didn’t have enough hose to even reach this one …
This weekend has been quite adventurous to say the least but we managed to slow down enough to see God moving… ❤️
We headed up Thursday night with a truck load of new pumps, hoses, generators and lots more gear and food to help the locals with their efforts to stay in place and thrive.
I brought my beautiful wife (Jennifer) with me this time, and watched the Glory of the Lord shake her all weekend and draw her heart close to His…
We spent time with Dave (the only resident left in Faulder) and as I sat with him, the smell of the fire is overwhelming, burnt trees crashing down around and the wind blowing ash through the air…we talked about how he is going to help the community rebuild ❤️💪🏻❤️ We made sure he was set up with his new fire pump, hoses, cooking station and other items, and then went to visit and hear some gut-wrenching stories of other locals and the experiences they have had trying to protect their homes and now stay in them without being arrested.
We sat with a man on his property where his mother lived, the house burnt to the ground and all that was left was ashes, stone from the chimney and the metal roof that once protected the precious lives that lived in it… we learned that his dad passed away 6 days before the fires rushed through and now his senior mother has no material items left but she holds onto the true value of her family members that survived the fires of faulder… they will rebuild ❤️
Last week the trip was a busy time of making sure that people had food, animals in Faulder were fed, fuel deliveries, wellness checks and putting out fires…
This time in meadow valley we put out hot spots, brought resources to people, and made a point of slowing down and spending time with folks still in shock, to hear their hearts and the trauma they went through, and try to share some hope and encouragement where we could. Dave and the folks living up top past faulder feel forgotten as there lives have been flippped upside down and now it’s very difficult to even move without permits being issued-AND THEY HAVE DECLINED 95% of the folks I’ve talked to… I personally spent 2 weeks up there and have witnessed zero wellness checks done by any disaster relief agencies or even head counts-we did all this-the government failed this area big time… lots of fire men, but nothing else…. Nothing… no fuel for generators, no food, nothing…
But none the less…We saw the Lord work in many situations, but the most valuable and tangible thing i’m holding onto is the work done in our own hearts and lives…
Last week I had a super natural encounter with the Lord as the fires were surrounding the farm, choppers flying and bucketing water, smoke so thick you can’t swallow properly-and the Lord said “get in that water Joseph, you have some healing to do” so I did….
Yesterday after my wife being chiseled, honed and sharpened all weekend by the hand and heart of God, we were walking to the truck to say good bye one more time (to our extended family), and wham…. The Spirit moved again… into the water she went with Denise, opened her heart to the Lord and sealed the covenant with her Father…. Baptized with water, washed in the spirit and sanctified with His blood.
We started to turn our eyes from seeing the death and destruction all around us in faulder, and started seeing the new growth already, the grass, the asparagus in Dave’s garden 😍🤣👏🏻❤️ and we could see the hope that the community has to rebuild, and the strength they all share together ❤️❤️
Thank you Faulder & meadow valley for showing us all how strong a community can be together, especially when the government turns their backs on you-but you have proven your strength in the face of adversities. Well done folks… well done 🙌🫶🏼👏🏻❤️❤️
And thank you to everyone who donated through the GZM page and helped us get resources to this area ❤️🫶🏼❤️🫶🏼❤️
I share all these experiences and updates with you guys from my perspective because there is a message in all of this…
There is a peace that transcends all understanding when you are sheltered in the most high, and standing in the shadow of the almighty… I’ve seen it, I felt it, and want others to taste and see that it is good. ❤️
