Village of Ashcroft

Village of Ashcroft This is the official page for the municipality of Ashcroft, British Columbia, Canada.

This page serves as a communication portal between Village Staff and the Public. If you would like to report a service-related incident please call us at 250-453-9161 The history of the Ashcroft area begins long before the Cariboo Gold Rush of the 1860s. Indigenous people have been living in the area since time immemorial, living off the plentiful fish, wild animals, and edible and medicinal plant

s in the area. Present-day Ashcroft is within the traditional territory of the Nlaka’pamux and Secwepemc First Nations, which include the present day First Nations of Ashcroft Indian Bank, Oregon Jack Creek Indian Band, Cook’s Ferry Indian Band, and the Bonaparte Indian Band. Incorporated in 1952, Ashcroft is a charming village of ~1500 people that lies at the junction of the Bonaparte and Thompson Rivers. The Village of Ashcroft began as a transportation hub and agricultural producer in the 1850s and has since gained attention for its historic charm, vibrant art scene, wonderful local produce, and breathtaking scenery – we have been a popular site for filming movies and TV series (The X-Files, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, The A-Team, Jurassic World 3, etc.) Ashcroft’s biophysical environment, multiracial roots, and community spirit have made it the unique, welcoming, and beautiful place we are so happy to call home.

What a great afternoon! ❤️

Saturday, we had the privilege of hosting the Ashcroft Together Community BBQ, and it turned out to be even better than we imagined!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an afternoon of great food, lots of fun and, most importantly, great company. It was wonderful to see so many people come together and enjoy the day.

A big thank you to the community service groups and organizations that joined us and set up tables, and a special thank you to the BOSS Enrichment Centre for partnering with us and bringing along their Backpack Giveaway Program.

The BBQ was sponsored by Ashcroft’s FireSmart™ Program as the wrap-up to our first year of FireSmart in Ashcroft. What better way to celebrate a year focused on building a safer, stronger and more resilient community than by bringing everyone together!

And, of course, events like this don’t happen without a lot of helping hands. A huge thank you to Mayor and Council, Village staff, our “voluntold” family members and volunteers, and a special shout-out to our Pool Staff for hosting the free swim and helping make the afternoon even more fun!

Last but certainly not least, thank you to the Ashcroft Fire Department — who even arranged for a little rain to help keep things FireSmart! 🌧️🔥😉

Thank you, Ashcroft, for making the afternoon such a success. We’re already looking forward to the next Ashcroft Together! ❤️
