Our North Hastings community is able to benefit from the free food distribution days. Thank you to Central Food Network and volunteers for being there and making this happen🤩

Sharing our stats from last month but with the reminder that behind every number is a neighbour, a family or a child who needed a little extra help making ends meet. Because we all need help sometimes.

This July:

🥕 147 families received groceries from our food banks
👨‍👩‍👧 72 children accessed food support
🚗 31 hampers were delivered to people who couldn't get to us
🍲 667 meals were prepared with love by our Community Cooks
📦 22,007 lbs of food moved into our community—enough for approximately 14,728 meals
🤝 3 free food distribution days helped make that food available to even more people.

And the need continues to grow. So far this year, our food banks have recorded 2,734 visits. That's 19% more than at this point last year.

Our Heat Bank program is seeing that same increase in demand. This year, we've already responded to 266 requests for help, compared with 223 last year.

We are grateful for each and every one of YOU - the community members & local businesses and service groups who volunteer, donate and share our messages - including that it's okay to ask for help when you need it.

Another happy evening where Mineral Capital Concerts and concert goers were able to make a big contribution to a valued nonprofit in our community. This time to Hospice North Hastings! Hurray!
This summer, 9 community groups will have benefitted from the weekly 50/50 draws!
Last concert coming up! On Wed. Sept. 2 benefits go to Bancroft and District Minor Hockey Association.

What does it take to supply a food bank in these tough economic times? Lot's of caring effort by staff, by volunteers and steady support from community. Here's our chance to fill shelves with non-perishable food and help with $$ costs of operation.

Today is the day to join in. Thanks to health and service providers for honouring lives lost and working to create well-being in our community.

All those who work towards health for everyone in North Hastings, including doctors, health team members, Public Health, our hospital, our mental health workers, our EMS workers and community support volunteers invite everyone to attend to learn more about International Overdose Awareness Day. 💜
Vulnerable members of our community can too often be in danger of an overdose and too often face stigma. Let's not lose anyone else to an overdose. Take time to remember those who died from an overdose.
