Burnt River Environmental project

Private landowners were awarded funding through our Water Fund landowner incentive program to implement erosion control and naturalization on their streambank. They planted 325 native trees and shrubs at the top of bank in partnership Ontario streams and a class from Fleming Collegeā€™s Environmental Management program in fall 2025.
The landowners also hammered in over 1,000 ā€˜live stakesā€™ (willow and dogwood cuttings) on the bank slope to expedite getting roots in the sandy cliff face.
