This is absolutely an essential service. As part of the Trans-Canada highway it provides an integral supply route to and from Newfoundland as well as a key transportation route for locals and visitors alike.

Marine Atlantic is a lifeline for Newfoundland and Labrador, connecting us to food, fuel, medical supplies, tourism, and trade.

Today, our government filed a request to intervene in a hearing on the designation of Marine Atlantic as an essential service, because protecting a reliable ferry service means protecting the people and businesses of our province.
