With Mother’s Day approaching this weekend, we’re celebrating all the amazing women who care for our young ones, including our incredible moms at ETRO who are gracefully balancing their careers and families on a daily basis.

Parenting is no easy feat, and returning to work as a new parent while balancing your career and family can be a challenge. Recently, three of our team members returned from parental leave, inspiring us to pilot a unique program: Maturn. Their Motherhood Leadership Coaching Program is designed for parents who are managing young families as they continue to grow their careers, giving them added support while navigating this transition.

Wishing all the rockstar moms, mom figures, and caregivers out there a Happy Mother’s Day this Sunday — we appreciate all that you do day in and day out!

The 402 West Pender project exemplifies the essence of heritage preservation. At its core, this project embodies the profound benefits of preserving heritage buildings. Beyond merely safeguarding historical structures, heritage preservation fosters a profound sense of shared history while enriching the fabric of existing neighborhoods.

The challenges encountered during the ex*****on of the 402 W Pender project underscore the project’s resilience and commitment to excellence. Operating within a bustling, high-traffic locale around a fully operational building demanded meticulous attention to site safety and structural integrity.

Despite facing adversities ranging from severe winter weather to unexpected encounters with seagulls, the team’s unwavering resolve culminated in a remarkable achievement, recognized by the City of Vancouver with the prestigious 2023 Heritage Conservation Award.

Today is Earth Day! A day to bring awareness to the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability for a better planet and future.

ETRO continuously looks for opportunities to build more sustainably, including our 837 Beatty Street project. This historic gem isn’t just getting a facelift; it’s undergoing a sustainable transformation with our teams optimizing off-site prefabrication in order to reduce waste and boost efficiency.

But sustainability isn’t just about what we build; it’s how we operate. With help from our in-house ReThink Sustainability Committee, we’re implementing initiatives like the electrification of our fleet.

We acknowledge that there’s still lots more to do, and we’re committed to doing what we can to make the Earth a better place!

One of our core values at ETRO is to disrupt how we build today, and be leaders of change in the industry. This includes actively promoting a more inclusive and fair work environment, both within our own workplace and across the broader construction sector.

With VRCA’s launch of their Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee, our team is excited to be a part of this newly formed committee with our People + Culture Manager, Shannon Callender, sitting on the committee!

Together, our aim is to collaborate effectively in eliminating unconscious biases and embracing diversity. We look forward to partnering with fellow committee members to drive positive change within the industry.

Our ETRO Care Bears took home the award for Best Dressed Team at KidSafe’s annual Pancake Breakfast competition! Although our construction-themed pancakes missed the podium, we had an amazing time connecting with the kids and the community.

Providing a safe space for over 800 children from our local community, also offers meals, extracurricular activities, and mentorship.

Thank you so much for having us again this year, and a big shout out to , .ca, .bros, and for supporting our team by donating to this great cause. We look forward to more volunteer and fundraising opportunities, including the upcoming summer Golf Tournament.

April is BC Construction Month!

Join us as we celebrate the many contributions that BC’s construction industry makes across our province, in every community, every day. Construction is the largest employer in BC’s goods sector, with a core workforce of 218,000+ across 26,250+ companies. Our impact on the growth and strength of our province is significant, with each project reflecting the hard work of those who built it.

In 2022, we breathed new life into Vancouver’s beloved Muro Tower (formerly Berkeley Tower) overlooking English Bay.

In 1958, Berkeley Tower rose as Vancouver’s first West End residential high-rise. Rather than demolish this historic landmark, the 16-storey building underwent extensive renovations including a seismic upgrade, full fire sprinkler system installation, and building code updates. All rental units were completely gutted and refitted with new fixtures, finishes, and floor-to-ceiling windows to embrace breathtaking English Bay views. A new mural on the exterior by renowned artist Douglas Coupland, described by him as a “distinctive combination of colourful geometric patterns that are at once old-fashioned yet futuristic,” brings a new vibrance to the building and the surrounding area.

Amidst the challenges of soaring construction and labour costs, the industry is undergoing dynamic transformations, presenting exciting opportunities for organizations daring enough to embrace change.
