Nation Rebuilding is on the move with Lake Babine Nation. Logical starting point is to realign the Administration so as to progress towards actual and practical developments that will allow empowerment to all workers. Prime ingredients of success: team building, establishing and promoting strategic thinking, and ACTION through hard work.
Team building will include processes for every employee to be acknowledged of their styles and purpose , every employee to uphold team norms, and that LBN is a unit.
Strategic thinking about the opportunities, challenges, priorities, and direction. While these processes occur, succession planning is a must . more progress updates forthcoming

June 11 was the passing of the torch , Ms Bessie French Downey progressed into Manager of Member Services for Takla Nation.
3.5 years into this work, Chief John A French and his Council supported this from the get go and were instrumental in planning this succession work. Congrats to all.

Nation Building for any Indigenous Society starts with reviewing the current status quo. from there , the financial status , resources to utilize at local/community level , strengthen roles/policies, develop a strategy with operational plans, work hard and believe in your vision. the key is unity in all aspects.

the Takla Nation Men's Empowerment wrapped up last month with each man signing a commitment agreement to achieve the competitive edge , maintain that edge , and succeed. Nation Building includes grassroots at their finest .

Nation Building
a concept that has been with Indigenous societies since time immemorial. the struggle is trying to shake off the 100s of years of assimilation and attempting to translate the whole societal tenets into the English language. this will not happen. what will happen is that in attempting the whole translation, the tenets of a Nation becomes weak and undesirable by the Nation itself. Unless there is a balance of both worlds can this work. priority is language, culture, and tradition. Secondary is adopting Western ways of governance through instructions of the black letters. this has its limitations. Most indigenous societies are have oral ways to govern, teach, and act on certain virtues. however integrating both ways in a strategic way will help move the Nation forward.
Nation building is about members, community, leadership, culture, language, governance, and economy. Putting this together is what makes this exciting, its rare, its hard work, and enjoyable to watch a Nation flourish.
