10/13/2026

This is the last week of nominations on October 16th at 2 pm. The election is on November 2nd.
Have you ever thought about running for Council?
Maybe you've sat back and thought, "I have some ideas about how we could do this differently." Maybe there are things you'd like to see happen in the Municipality, or maybe you simply care about where our community is headed.
Well...this could be your opportunity to bring those ideas to the table.
The Rural Municipality of North Shore will be holding a General Election, and we encourage eligible residents who are interested in serving their community to consider putting their name forward for Council.
To be eligible to run, you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be a resident in the Rural Municipality of North Shore ( Stanhope, West Covehead, Pleasant Grove, Covehead, and Grand Tracadie) for at least six months immediately before Election Day.
You don't need to have all the answers. Council brings together people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives to make decisions about the community we all call home.
Bring your voice to the table. Consider running for Rural Municipality of North Shore Council.
Nomination information and additional election details will be available at the Office.

💚 World Mental Health Day | October 10
October is World Mental Health Awareness Month, and October 10 is World Mental Health Day.
This year’s theme, “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change,” is a reminder that everyone has a story — and sometimes, what someone needs most is simply to know that someone is there to listen.
Here in North Shore, we know the importance of looking out for our neighbours, friends, family, and community. A quick check-in, a cup of coffee, a conversation at the rink, or simply asking “How are you doing?” can mean more than we realize.
💬 Check in on someone you haven’t heard from in a while.
👂 Take a moment to really listen.
❤️ Let someone know they matter.
🤝 Don’t be afraid to reach out if you’re the one who needs support.
Mental health is something we all have, and there is no shame in asking for help.
Let’s continue building a North Shore community where people feel comfortable talking, asking for support, and knowing they don’t have to face things alone. 💚
If you or someone you know needs support:
📞 Call or text 988 — Canada’s Su***de Crisis Helpline, available 24/7.
🌾 National Farmer Crisis Line: 1-866-327-6701 (1-866-FARMS01), available 24/7 for farmers and agricultural workers.
Sometimes, a simple conversation can make a big difference. Let’s keep checking in on each other — today and every day.

09/29/2026

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, is a day of remembrance for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Survivors of Canada’s residential school system, as well as the children who never returned and the families and communities forever altered. It acknowledges the forced removal of Indigenous children, loss of language and culture, and the enduring intergenerational trauma caused by these institutions. Rooted in the story of survivor Phyllis Webstad and her orange shirt, the observance was established in 2021 as a direct response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action 80 to ensure the history and legacy of residential schools are publicly commemorated.
