Our region’s emergency response organizations can apply for funding to strengthen preparedness and response efforts.

The Emergency Services Provider Fund’s regional funding stream supports fire departments, ground search and rescue, and HAZMAT organizations working together with municipalities to enhance emergency services across a wider geographic area.

Applications open September 1 and close October 31, 2026.

Chester Art Centre Youth Craft Drop-in at Zoe Valle Library, 10am-12pm. Free and all supplies are provided.

Summer vacation flew by! With that begins a new school year.
I wish everyone a happy first day of school and the start of a learning process that they will ( hopefully )enjoy throughout this year and every following year.
It’s also means the start of buses on the roads,  that are carrying little loved ones.  Although our bus drivers are skilled, we all have to stay alert. 
Thank you to everyone in the schooling system that makes this happen.

Today marks 28 years since Swissair Flight 111 crashed off the coast of Peggys Cove. In a matter of minutes, 229 innocent lives were lost.

In our darkest hour, Nova Scotians showed who we are. Local fishers and boaters rushed to the water without hesitation. Over 2,400 military members, 450 RCMP officers, Ground Search and Rescue, and Coast Guard personnel joined the response, while everyday families opened their homes and hearts to grieving loved ones.

To the families who lost someone that night: Nova Scotia still holds you in our hearts. To our first responders, military members, and brave locals who stepped up: we remain forever grateful for your service and sacrifice. We will never forget.
