🌲 FireSmart Fuel Mitigation

Our FireSmart mitigation crew has been busy reducing the heavy fuel load along roadside edges within town. This work not only lowers the risk of fire spreading into our community, but also improves visibility along our road corridors — making them safer for drivers and emergency responders alike. We are grateful for our crew and for our own chipper.

Good day, all. We hope everyone had a fun and safe weekend. We just wanted to put it out there that our FireSmart mitigation crew will be out chipping today. They will primarily be working on Old North Thompson Highway between Sunshine Valley Rd. and the Building Centre. They will also be out chipping at a few other locations around town. So, if you see them out and about please give them a bit of space and a wave. Thanks and have a great day!

Happy Monday, all. Just a friendly heads up to Wyndhaven residents — you may spot the Clearwater FireSmart truck in your neighborhood, today. Our crew will be conducting a neighborhood wildfire hazard assessment as part of FireSmart BC's Local FireSmart Collective Program. This is a neighbourhood-level assessment and we will not be accessing private properties. If you are interested in being part of the collective, as a neighborhood advocate or collective committee member, feel free to reach out.

Once a year, the Wildfire Resiliency and Training Summit brings together wildfire practitioners from all over BC and beyond. The upcoming summit will take place in Victoria on April 8 – 12, 2026.

Good day and happy Wednesday. It is a beautiful day to be out and about and our FireSmart crew has certainly been doing just that. Our crew visited a few homes today, performing free home assessments. A few residents were actively FireSmarting their homes while we were on site. One resident was working to remove cedar hedges and another was working to tidy up some low hanging branches, which we provided some assistance with. It is certainly great to see folks doing their part to make their property safer and more fire resilient, which in turns helps our community as a whole. Start simple, start small. And please reach out for more FireSmart information.
