We're still right on time for the upcoming October 26th Municipal & School Board Election! Due to a mail delivery delay, Voter Instruction Letters (VILs) are hitting mailboxes this week (October 13-16)!

If you're an eligible voter and don't receive your VIL by Friday, October 16, 2026, please visit any of the Voter Assistance Centres and our Election Team will be happy to set you up with a new one.

- Grafton Municipal Office (10836 County Rd #2, Grafton): October 16, 19-23, 2026 from 10am to 4pm. October 26, 2026 from 10am to 8pm

- Alnwick Civic Centre (9059 County Rd 45, Roseneath): October 17, 2026 from 10am to 2pm

- Grafton Fire Hall Station #1 (343 Edwardson Rd, Grafton): October 18, 2026 from 10am to 2pm

- Centreton Community Centre (2363 County Rd #23, Centreton): October 24, 2026 from 10am to 2pm

Municipal Grant & Donation Deadline Reminder!

A reminder that the deadline to submit Municipal Grant & Donation applications is quickly approaching!

Non-profit organizations that provide a direct benefit to the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand and/or its residents are encouraged to apply.

Applications must demonstrate a clear community need and be submitted by the deadline: Friday, October 9, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.

Alnwick/Haldimand Firefighters to Launch Door-to-Door Safety Campaign During Fire Prevention Week – October 4th to 10th, 2026

In addition to distributing essential safety tips, firefighters will urge residents to follow these key fire safety practices:

• Working Smoke Alarms: Make sure you have a working smoke alarm on every level of your home and outside all sleeping areas. Please test them once a month and change the batteries at least once a year.

• Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarms: If your home has a fuel-burning appliance, fireplace, or attached garage, you also need a CO alarm outside your sleeping areas and on every level and in all mechanical rooms.

• Escape Plan: Make sure your family knows two ways out of every room and has a designated meeting place outside.

Election 2026: Voter Information Letters (VILs) for eligible voters will be delivered to mailboxes this week! The VILs contain everything you need to know about how to vote by internet or telephone, when to vote, and Voter Assistance Centre locations, dates and times if you, or someone you know, needs to get on the voters list, accessibility assistance, or access to a computer or reliable cell service!

If you didn’t receive your VIL by October 9, 2026, contact the Clerks Department at 905-349-2822 x 32 and we’ll help you out!
