What is the Consort Parents for Playground Society?
Our mission is to create a playground that is designed so that children of all abilities, with physical, sensory, developmental, or cognitive disabilities can play side by side with their peers.This structure will replace the wooden one at the Consort School playground.
What exactly would that look like for our children? We are looking to include features with an accessible design, diverse play equipment, cognitive and social inclusion. It is our hope that every child, no matter their ability, can play, explore and have fun without barriers.
The design of the playground is based on the available budget, which is determined through fundraising efforts and grant funding. Final design decisions are dependent on the cost and availability of the structures at the time of purchase, ensuring the project remains financially feasible.
With that being said, we'd love to hear from the community what they would like see for this play structure. How can we expand play for our children? What features would you include that will encourage risk and challenge while supporting their imagination?
