It's lavender harvesting time at the farm. Also the Calendula is starting to give it's glorious blossoms. Along with Catnip, Figwort, Ecennacia and a few other healing herbs they are making their way to Robin's lab at Botanical Bliss to be turned into healing salves, creams and other healthy procucts.

The weather conditions have really leant themselves for making this kale shoot for the sky here at the farm.

OUR FARM’S STORY

In 1982, Henk Scholten bought 12 acres of raw forest land on Mountain Road south of Duncan BC on Vancouver Island. He and his young family cleared land, built a barn for a small herd of dairy goats and began an orchard. It took two years to build a house that he raised his family in. Over the years the farm has been home to rabbits, sheep and chickens as well as Henk’s grandchildren. A small greenhouse and big garden fed the family.

When Henk met Robin, owner of Botanical Bliss, a local herbal business, he finally found a use for all his comfrey. Robin encouraged Henk to plow his lawn and plant calendula for her herbal products. In 2015, Henk and Robin created a lavender garden with 60 baby plants. The farm now grows eight different herbs for Botanical Bliss.

In the spring of 2017, Hank and Robin attended a Young Agrarians conference and through them found Mark and Alexis, a couple with energy, enthusiasm and growing experience who moved onto the farm with their son Arthur.
