Eastern Shore Family Resource Association Not-for Profit providing programs & services for families along the Eastern Shore since 1994. of Community Services.

The family Resource Association has been a part of the Eastern Shore community since 1994, and we now serve over 500 families every year in a variety of locations, from Lawrencetown / Lake Echo to Ship Harbour. The Family Resource Centre is located in the Porters Lake Shopping Centre above the Royal Bank and, although this space has served us well since 2005, we are now actively looking for a larger ground floor location in the Porters Lake area. We are non-profit, charitable organization governed by a 8 member Policy Board. With the help of some Provincial Government, United Way, FLIEF and other small amounts of grant funding & community donations, we work with our Eastern Shore partners (which include local schools, health services providers, public library, literacy network etc) to provide a range of quality, interactive programs & services (free of charge), to families across the Eastern Shore. These include:
● Pre-Natal / New Parent Groups
● Early Learning / Child Development Playgroups
● Family Literacy programs
● Play & Learn / Parent Resource Lending Libraries
● Parent Programs / Workshops

We are also able to provide one-on-one, confidential family support through our Home Visiting Support Programs. These are:

● Healthy Beginnings – for families with newborns – age 3 years
Healthy Beginnings is an enhanced home visiting initiative in partnership with Capital Health, Public Health Services. Our Home Visitor provides extra support for young families in Musquodoboit Valley communities as well as on the Eastern Shore.

● Parenting Journey – for families with children ages 0 – 18 years
Parenting Journey is a community based, in-home / on-site / by phone / family support program funded by the Dept. ESFRA is one of only eleven Family Resource or Early Intervention Centres chosen to offer the programs in Nova Scotia at this time.

Community Donation Request

Eastern Shore Family Resource Association has officially moved into our new location, and we are excited to continue providing support, resources, and programs to families in our community from our new home.

As we settle into the new space, one of our remaining priorities is improving our parking lot to make it safer, more accessible, and more functional for the families, children, volunteers, and community members who visit us.

We are reaching out to local businesses and community partners to ask for support through a donation of gravel and excavation services. Whether through materials, equipment, labour, or financial support toward the project, your contribution would help us complete this important improvement.

Your generosity would have a direct impact on our organization and the families we serve. We are grateful for the incredible support our community has shown us and hope you will consider being part of making our new location a safe and welcoming space for everyone.

Thank you for considering supporting the Eastern Shore Family Resource Association. Please contact us at 902-827-1461 or by email [email protected]

A trip down memory lane...

I met a new friend at the beach the other day, and when she heard where I worked she told me just how much New Parent Group meant to her when her children were small.

Over the years, so many little ones have come through the ESFRA doors. Families have met friends, connections have been made, and we still regularly hear people talk about the programs they loved at ESFRA years ago.

That’s the thing about programs like Wee Bears & Book Worms, they may only be one little part of your week, but sometimes the friendships, memories and sense of community stick around for a whole lot longer. 🥹

And now it’s time for a new group of little ones to make some memories of their own!

✨ Registration for Wee Bears & Bookworms opens TOMORROW! ✨ www.esfamily.org
