I'm disappointed to report that yet another bill that would strengthen the criminal justice system has been voted down by the Liberals, including the Prime Minister and the Minister of Justice.

This bill would have reversed a bad policy decision the Liberals made that allowed dangerous offenders and mass murderers to be downgraded from maximum to medium security prison. It would have put victims first and help restore confidence in our justice system.

I commend my colleague MP Baldinelli for keeping the promise he made his constituents to fight on this issue by putting this bill forward.

Over the past several months, negotiations between Marine Atlantic and workers have continued without a resolution and warning signs of possible service disruption have been impossible to ignore. Despite being responsible for the Crown corporation, the Liberals have failed to show leadership and its Newfoundlanders and Labradorians that will pay the price.

Marine Atlantic's workers deserve a fair deal, and Newfoundlanders and Labradorians deserve the assurance that the ferry won't be disrupted.
