Picture an Edson resident in her early 80s. She lives alone in her own home, she doesn't drive anymore, and her family lives out of province.
Three mornings a week, our bus picks her up at her front door and takes her to the Edson Healthcare Centre. Twice a month, the same bus takes her to the Friendship Centre for lunch with friends. On Saturdays, it takes her to Sobeys.
Without that bus, she doesn't go to her appointments. Without those appointments, she doesn't stay in her home.
That's the story behind our 2025 numbers: 11,100 one-way trips, about 30 a day, every day. And it's the story behind the gratitude we shared with Town of Edson Council last night for their $125,000 annual investment in accessible transportation.
To Mayor and Council, thank you for standing with us. To our riders, drivers, volunteers, donors, and funding partners, thank you for making this possible.
If you'd like to watch the meeting, the Town of Edson has posted the recording on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Lf1yWsSKkv8?t=360
If you or someone you love could use a ride, please give us a call at 780-723-1122.
