Summer is here and unfortunately so are the bugs! Stay clear of the blackflies and come visit the library to pick out a great book or movie. Whether you’re looking for a beach read, family movie night pick, or something new to explore, we’ve got something for everyone!

🦉🐢🦊Join us for a FREE educational and interactive morning with Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary at the Kearney Community Centre on Saturday, June 13 from 9:30–11:30 AM

Learn about wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, hear stories about permanent sanctuary residents, and discover how we can safely co-exist with local wildlife. Families are invited to enjoy activities at the Kearney and Area Public Library from 11:00 - 11:30AM.

🎁Enter our draw at the event for a chance to WIN 2 FREE guided tour passes at Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary!

🧺There will also be a Linen Donation Drive in support of the Sanctuary from June 8 - June 13 from 9:00AM to 3:00PM at the Kearney Community Centre. Donations of clean towels, sheets, and pillowcases ONLY are appreciated to help care for injured and orphaned wildlife.

For the safety of volunteers and animals, please ensure the donated items are clean.

🌱 Reminder: Children’s Gardening & Butterfly Fun 🌱
with Sue Fox from Variegated Deva’s 🌷FREE TO ATTEND!

There are still a few spots available for this fun, hands-on children’s gardening adventure! 🦋

Kids will learn simple planting tips, discover how to create a butterfly-friendly garden, and plant their own mini plant to take home and watch grow.

🐢 Wonderful Wildlife News! 🐢

We received a lovely update that we thought our community would enjoy hearing!
Last June, an injured painted turtle was found on Echo Ridge Road in Town of Kearney, Ontario and brought to a veterinary office in Orillia that helps facilitate transfers to the Peterborough Turtle Conservation Centre. The turtle appeared to have suffered an injury to her shell, possibly from an animal bite.
We are happy to share that after receiving care and rehabilitation, she has made a full recovery and has now been safely returned to the wild where she belongs! 💚

A big thank you to everyone who takes the time to help injured wildlife in our community. Small acts of kindness truly make a difference. 🐢🌿

🌞 Summer Student Opportunity! 🌞

The Kearney and Area Public Library is hiring a summer student for 6 weeks, starting July 6!

You’ll be mainly working with our librarian on the Summer Children’s Craft Program, helping create fun and engaging activities for kids in our community.

This is an exciting chance to gain hands-on experience in a welcoming library environment while making a difference for children this summer!
