🙏 Thank You, Fort Saskatchewan

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who supported me throughout this campaign. Though the results were not what we hoped for, I am at peace knowing that everything happens according to God’s perfect plan.

To my family, friends, volunteers, and every person who prayed, encouraged, and walked beside me, thank you. Your faith and love sustained me every step of the way.

This journey has reminded me that service isn’t defined by a title, but by the heart to keep doing good. I will continue to serve Fort Saskatchewan with faith, humility, and purpose.

“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9

While this chapter may have closed, my commitment to our city remains the same. I will continue to serve, listen, and be involved in building a stronger, more connected Fort Saskatchewan.

These municipal elections, candidates running for the city council were asked about, "What is something that you would like your constituents to know about you?"

And my response is.

I want residents to know that I am approachable, committed, and deeply invested in this community. I believe in honesty, transparency, and making decisions that always put people first.

I am not running to push a personal agenda. I am running to represent the voices of Fort Saskatchewan fairly and respectfully.

Whether it’s a major policy decision or a small local concern, I will listen, collaborate, and ensure residents feel heard.

Above all, I want people to know they can trust me as someone who cares about their needs and will work hard to represent them on council.

🗞️ Setting the Record Straight

I’d like to take a moment to clarify a few details from a recent Sturgeon Creek Newspaper article about my candidacy for Fort Saskatchewan City Council.

First, my family and I have proudly called Fort Saskatchewan home for over 13 years, since June 2012 — not seven years as mentioned in the article.

Second, while the article suggested I “blame incumbent councillors for higher water and energy costs,” my comments were actually meant to reflect residents’ concerns about the overall cost of living — including taxes and utilities. I fully understand that City Council does not directly control water or energy rates, but Council can influence affordability through its budgeting priorities, municipal fee structures, and regional advocacy.

My focus remains on making life more affordable for families, seniors, and small businesses while ensuring that every tax dollar is spent wisely and transparently.

I appreciate the role of local media in keeping our community informed, and I believe that open and respectful dialogue helps keep democracy strong.

When I first thought about running, I’ll admit — it felt scary. I haven’t built my career in municipal politics, but neighbours, friends, and community members kept encouraging me to step forward. They told me: “Ericson, your voice is our voice.” That gave me the courage to take this leap of faith.

I’m running because I want to see Fort Saskatchewan thrive as a safe, affordable, and caring city. That means:

After attending last night’s councillor debate, I witnessed firsthand how dirty politics can be. Too often, incumbents put on a polished image, but the truth is clear: these are the same individuals who voted to raise property taxes and allowed our water and energy costs to climb higher.

Fort Saskatchewan deserves better. We cannot afford more of the same. If I were to advise voters, I would say: choose candidates who are not running for re-election — fresh voices who are ready to put residents first instead of repeating past mistakes.

It’s time for real change at City Hall.
