When I was in elementary school, we sang this song every week at our Friday assembly. It made me so proud of who we are as a place and a people, and it evokes that same feeling now.

The Guardian is a beautiful memorial that honours the men and women who serve our community as police officers, firefighters and first responders. Created to commemorate the tragic incidents of August 10th, 2018 that took the lives of two Fredericton Police Force officers and two civilians, The Guardian was put in place to inspire, comfort, provide opportunity to reflect, and instil pride in those who devote their lives to keeping us safe.

In 2021, we gathered a group made up of designers John Leroux and Phillip LeBlanc, City staff and members of the Fredericton Police Force to envision a sensitive, respectful, living memorial. The group determined the memorial should be simple, approachable, visible and optimistic, incorporate light, and located in the city centre near the river. The result is a gentle blue glow that illuminates a historic bridge pier situated in the river that centres us, calms us, and gives our community life.

It was very special and moving to be in attendance last night as The Guardian was lit up for the first time. Thank you to everyone involved in this meaningful project. May it bring peace and light to our city.💙

A real treat to pop into the POPS NB Festival in Moncton yesterday to hear the Sistema NB Children's and Youth Orchestras!

The story of the NB Youth Orchestra and Sistema NB is impressive! In addition to instructing and inspiring children to be incredible musicians, Sistema NB lives its mission of transformative social change through music and orchestra.

I am so honoured and grateful to be selected to receive this recognition, especially alongside my friend, artist and arts professional extraordinaire, Danielle Hogan!
The significance and influence of the NB New Brunswick College of Craft and Design is felt throughout our city, province, country and beyond. The College (or "Crafts School" as it was so fondly known in my early days as an arts administrator) and its people played a huge role in shaping my knowledge and my approach to working in the creative sector.

When City of Fredericton Government established the Office of Community Inclusion, I don't think we had any idea the magnitude of possibilities we would uncover in our pursuit to create a city that works for everyone. The staff and Social Inclusion Committee created to support their efforts have advanced inclusion, diversity and equity across City Hall and into every area of our program delivery. This bus is a demonstration of what can happen when a city thinks of, sees and embraces all who live here.
