πŸ”₯Today is Wildfire Community Preparedness Day!

Focus on the Home Ignition Zone β€” the 30 metres around your home where simple actions can make a real difference.

➑️ 0–1.5 metres (Immediate Zone)
Keep this area non-combustible
β€’ Clear leaves, debris, and vegetation
β€’ Use gravel, stone, or other non-combustible materials instead of wood and bark-based mulch
β€’ Avoid shrubs or anything that can catch embers

➑️ 1.5–10 metres (Intermediate Zone)
Reduce what can carry fire to your home
β€’ Move firewood, patio furniture, and combustibles away
β€’ Use fire-resistant plants and clean landscaping
β€’ Keep this area tidy and well-spaced

➑️ 10–30 metres (Extended Zone)
If your property extends into this zone, you can lower the intensity of fire near your home
β€’ Remove dead branches, dry grass, and fallen debris
β€’ Consider thinning trees and create spacing between them

These simple actions reduce how fire spreads and prevent embers from igniting your home, one of the leading causes of structure loss during wildfires.

πŸ”₯🚨 Members are currently responding to a wildland fire in the high lines behind the Ludford Subdivision. Please exercise caution despite the province's green status, as dry and windy conditions can cause fires to spread quickly. Ensure a means of containment or extinguishment is available to maintain control.
