We are seizing every opportunity to ensure Islands Trust, CRD and provincial candidates understand the worsening housing situation on Galiano.

Last weekend, we visited the Thuthiqut Hulelum' property with Green Party Leader and MLA candidate Emily Lowan. GALI also joined other community members and incoming CRD Director Rob Fawcett for a walk-and-talk tour along the access road to the Georgia View homes site.

We were also thrilled to introduce the visitors to some of the wonderful Raise the Roof volunteers who tirelessly raise funds for affordable housing on our island.

Advocating for secure, long-term housing options requires building bridges across all levels of community leadership. We are incredibly grateful for the chance to showcase these vital local projects.

A huge thank you to all the island business owners, operators, contractors, and non-profits who took the time to share how the housing crisis is impacting your day-to-day operations.

Your responses have provided GALI with the data needed to clearly demonstrate the economic impact of our housing shortage. We are currently compiling your feedback, which will be used to advocate for targeted local workforce housing solutions. We look forward to sharing a summary of the key findings with you soon. Thank you for your leadership!

You belong here. So does your neighbour.🍂🍁

This Thanksgiving, GALI is thanking our neighbours who volunteer with Raise the Roof. They are at the Daystar Market lot TODAY from 12-4 - pop by and say hello to some of Galiano's hardest working volunteers.

These folks are the kind of people who make Galiano what it is, the people who keep things going and make Island life possible.

This Thanksgiving, we also encourage you to consider joining Cornerstone, Raise the Roof's monthly giving community. This circle of islanders and island-lovers know that a vibrant Galiano depends on people being able to actually live here.

When you join Cornerstone, your gift doesn't just respond to a single moment of need - it becomes part of the foundation. One person giving $25 a month may not build a house. But 20, 50 or 100 people doing it together can make a real difference.

A small gift. Every month. Helping build homes for the people who help make Galiano home. 🏡❤️

THANK YOU to the many Galiano Island employers who have completed the survey so far.

We are in Week 3 of the Workforce Housing Survey, and the early data shows that housing scarcity is directly forcing changes to business hours and limiting local services.

If you employ people on Galiano and you haven't shared your experience yet, there is still time. Your confidential input gives GALI the hard numbers required to fight for infrastructure grants and workforce housing.

Let's make sure our island's economy remains as resilient as its community.

We are halfway through the Employers Housing Impact Survey window.

The data shows that the housing shortage is hitting local businesses and non-profits hard. When workers can't afford to live here, employers pay the price in talent and productivity. The whole island shares the loss.

Employers: THANK YOU for taking the time to do the survey. Haven't filled it out yet? 5 minutes is all it takes.

Survey closes Oct. 7
