Today, Dauphin River First Nation stands together to honour the Survivors of residential schools, to remember the children who never made it home, and to hold close the families who continue to live with the impacts of this painful history.
For us, Orange Shirt Day is deeply personal. These are not simply stories from the past. They are the experiences of our parents, grandparents, relatives and community members, and their strength and resilience live on in our people today.
As Chief, I believe one of the greatest ways we can honour those who came before us is by creating a strong future for our children β one where they know who they are, where they come from, and where our language, culture and traditions are celebrated and protected.
Today we remember. We honour. And we continue forward together. God bless.
Every Child Matters. π§‘
