Today, we proudly join communities across Canada in celebrating the 100th Anniversary of The Royal Canadian Legion.
On July 17, 1926, The Canadian Legion was officially incorporated. What began as Veterans uniting to support one another grew into a national organization dedicated to serving Veterans and their families, honouring the Fallen, and strengthening communities across Canada.
For a century, generations of Legion members and volunteers have carried this mission forward.
As we celebrate Hagersville's 150th anniversary, we are especially grateful for the continued support of Hagersville Legion Branch #164. From hosting community events and opening their doors for local gatherings to leading our Remembrance Day commemorations, the Legion has been an integral part of our community's story for generations.
On behalf of the Hagersville 150 Committee, thank you to the members and volunteers of Hagersville Legion Branch #164 for your unwavering service, dedication, and commitment to our community.
Congratulations on this remarkable milestone, and here's to the next century of service.

🎉 Exciting News from Hagersville 150! 🎉

The Hagersville 150 Committee is proud to announce our Legacy Project!

From the very beginning, our goal was that any funds remaining after our 150th celebrations—made possible through grants and the incredible generosity of our donors and supporters—would be invested back into our community through a lasting legacy.

After much discussion, the committee chose to create a community mural.

We approached a local property owner, who graciously agreed to have the mural painted on their building. A selection committee then began the search for a talented local mural artist.

And the work begins today!

We are thrilled to welcome Tim Nijenhuis of Ninehouse Productions, Hamilton, as the artist bringing this vision to life. We’ll be featuring Tim and his work in an upcoming post, so stay tuned!

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing community for your unwavering support of everything we’ve accomplished during Hagersville 150. We also extend our sincere appreciation to Ron & Aggie Marr and Jill & Shaun Williamson for making this project possible. Yes, there are actually two properties involved… and we’ll reveal more as the project unfolds! 👀

We’d also like to thank Haldimand County for its continued support.

The first mural celebrates the three themes that helped shape Hagersville’s history and identity:

🚛 Transportation

Our large event Aug 1, 2, 3 is coming up fast. Our membership is getting smaller. We are desperate for some help!! Even if it’s for a few hours or a day.
We are able to sign for high school kids!! Give Annette a call!

While we recently learned that Hagersville was not selected as the winner of HGTV's Hometown Takeover, we would like to extend our sincere congratulations to the community of Port Alberni on their success.
Most importantly, we want to take a moment to thank the people of Hagersville. Once again, our community stepped up in an incredible way, showing outstanding pride, passion, and dedication. Together, we pulled out all the stops, rallied behind a common goal, and demonstrated what makes Hagersville such a special place to call home.
Although we didn't receive the final result we had hoped for, we have gained something equally important: a renewed sense of community spirit and a greater awareness of the opportunities and needs within our town.
The Hagersville 150 Committee is immensely proud of what we accomplished together. Let's keep this momentum going as we continue to grow, improve, and celebrate our community.

Roots to Table Local Food Week Event happening right now in the Market Square! Only to 1pm! New vendors and many exhibitors. Food truck on site as well. Come support local!

A huge THANK YOU to all of the amazing volunteers who came out yesterday morning for our Earth Day community clean-up! 🌎💚
With your help, we were able to make a big impact around town:
✨ Litter was picked up along Main Street and King Street
✨ Excess sand from the winter season was swept up
✨ Sgt. Andrew Harnett Park got a much-needed clean-up
✨ The parking lot beside Libro was refreshed and cleared
Your time and effort truly make a difference, and it shows in the pride we all share for our community.
If you didn’t get a chance to join us yesterday — there’s still time to get involved! Grab a bag, gather some friends or family, and organize a clean-up on your street or in your neighbourhood.
Let’s continue to take pride in our town — because in reality, every day is Earth Day. 🌱

During Volunteer Appreciation Week, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible people who made Hagersville 150 truly unforgettable.
🌾 For Ag Day in 2025, over 140 volunteers came together to bring our biggest celebration to life. From early morning setup to the final cleanup, from organizing activities to welcoming visitors with a smile — your dedication, energy, and community spirit made it all possible.
Because of you, Market Square, Barnyard Lane, and Ag Day Park were filled with laughter, learning, and connection. You helped create memories that will last a lifetime and showcased the very best of Hagersville.
👏 Whether you gave a few hours or many days, please know your efforts did not go unnoticed. You are the heart of our community.
