Big news for Nova Scotia!!

10/18/2026

Wind West, Nova Scotia's major offshore wind project, just took a big step forward earlier this week.

Our government has secured $100 million from the federal government to advance offshore wind energy. This major milestone brings us one step closer to making our province a global clean energy powerhouse moving Nova Scotia from the end of the energy line to the starting point.

Unlocking our world-class wind will attract billions in private investment, build a stronger economy, and create thousands of good-paying jobs for Nova Scotians. We are building our economy to power Canada and protect our future.

✅ Opening the new Menopause Centre of Excellence in Spryfield
✅ Launching a Women’s Health Research and Innovation Grant
✅ Adding a dedicated education co-ordinator to support providers and the public

By bringing expert care, doctors, and community leaders together, we are building a stronger healthcare system that works for women today and for generations to come.

Premier Houston’s response is getting international attention for a reason.

The message is clear: Nova Scotia must be stronger, more self-reliant, and ready to lead.

That means developing our own energy, responsibly growing our natural resources with world-class environmental safeguards, and opening new markets for Nova Scotian goods and services.

This is how we protect our future.

Today marks another major milestone in our work to train more doctors for rural communities across Nova Scotia.

Medical students at the Cape Breton Medical Campus are starting classes in the new state-of-the-art Medical Sciences Building. This facility will train doctors for rural Nova Scotia for generations to come.

While construction was underway, our inaugural cohort of 30 students began their studies last August at the former NSCC campus. Today, 30 new first-year students joined them as the Class of 2029 moves into second year, doubling the number of students attending CBMC.

We are ensuring rural Nova Scotians have reliable access to healthcare close to home. By training doctors in Cape Breton, we are building a stronger pipeline of physicians committed to serving our rural communities. This new building is a critical step toward better care for families across Nova Scotia.

Please join me in congratulating these amazing students, and let’s wish them the very best as they continue their studies!

We want our young people to build their careers and their lives right here in Nova Scotia.

If you are under 30 and work in an eligible trade, nursing position, or film occupation, the MOST program refunds your provincial income tax on your first $50,000 earned every single year until you turn 30.

That puts thousands of hard-earned dollars back in your pocket year after year to help pay for groceries, bills, or a down payment on a home.

It is our way of helping young workers get a strong start while filling critical jobs across our province.
