The Board regulates municipal water utilities by:

🚰 approving rates and service terms
πŸ’° approving spending on infrastructure (like pipes, equipment, buildings, etc.)
πŸ§‘β€βš–οΈ handling customer complaints

When a utility wants to change rates, it must apply to the Board with a detailed rate study.

Before approving spending, the Board asks questions like:

βœ… Is this project or purchase really needed?
βœ… Is now the right time?
βœ… Is the cost reasonable?
βœ… How will this impact customer rates?
βœ… How will the utility be impacted?

Bottom line: No amount can be included in customer rates until the Board approves.
