Hamilton and other cities in Ontario have numerous vacant buildings that are boarded up and derelict. These vacant or partially vacant buildings are typically left in disrepair and dilapidated. ring a haven for various types of criminal activity. The back lots of these buildings and surrounding areas offer hidden places for criminal acts to occur. The solicitation of s*x is a practice that has flourished around vacant buildings. The trafficking and use of illegal drugs has also flourished on these streets through these same conditions. ACTION: Would be to petition our Provincial Government to repeal the "Property Tax Rebate for Commercial and Industrial Building", under section of 442.5 of the Municipality Act and Ontario Regulations 25/01.To encourage stewardship and commercial revitalization.
