At approximately 4:00 PM on Wednesday, December 24th, 2025, Hampton Fire Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire on Passekeag Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters were met with a fully involved detached garage. Firefighters quickly knocked down the bulk of the fire and protected the house. Crews remained on the scene for a couple of hours to dig out and extinguish the remaining hot spots

We would like to thank the Nauwigewauk Fire Department , Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department Inc. and Upham Volunteer Fire Department who assisted with additional tankers as well as our partners at Ambulance New Brunswick and Royal Canadian Mounted Police in New Brunswick

The community of Upham was immensely hospitable to our volunteers throughout this operation, with community members from as far as Hampton ensuring SAR volunteers had plenty of food for meals and refreshments. We want especially to express our gratitude to members of the community for attending to Upham WI Hall throughout Saturday, which allowed Searchers a place of rest and warmth between taskings.

Pictured is Travis—a member of Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue—who (early during Day 1 of the operation) was Acting Search Manager and, later, part of the K9 team who helped to locate the missing person. Travis is posed with members of the Upham community who took charge of the Upham WI Hall throughout Saturday.

Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue is honored that both the RCMP and the family trusted our members to lead Operation Period 1 of search operation and to provide an extrication/medical team for day 2.

A huge thank you to York Sunbury Search and Rescue (YSSR) for relieving us in place on Day 2 after TCGSAR led operations on Day 1. Having another team step in and provide such a seamless and professional handoff of Command Post operations made all the difference. Our field team leaders and members were in good hands.

We’d also like to thank River Valley Ground Search and Rescue and Greater Fundy Ground Search And Rescue for sending your members to assist. Your support was deeply appreciated.

Our gratitude also goes out to RCMP and RCMP K9 for their world-class work throughout this search, and to EMO for providing drone assets that greatly enhanced search coverage and efficiency.

A special thank you as well to the Ambulance New Brunswick Paramedics who were professional, ready, and willing to do what they do best when it mattered most.

Finally, we’d like to recognize the community of Upham, including the Upham Fire Department. Your hospitality, home cooking and care truly kept our team going.

It takes a village, and Upham should be very proud of theirs!
