The Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen would like to acknowledge and extend its thanks to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 389 for successfully acquiring 23 Commemorative Street Banners.

Each banner represents a war Veteran honoured by family and friends who have sponsored the banner. The street banners will be on display along various streets in Havelock until shortly after Remembrance Day.

Congratulations to HBM’s Elmer Buchanan, E.C.O.

Elmer was nominated by the Peterborough County Federation of Agriculture and was inducted into the Peterborough County Agricultural Wall of Fame on Sunday August 23, 2026.

As found on the Peterborough County Agricultural Wall of Fame website:

A lifelong farmer, educator, public servant, and advocate for rural communities. Former Ontario Minister of Agriculture and Food who worked to achieve accreditation and stabilized funding for Ontario’s farm organizations. Active in the provincial horse racing commission, Farmers’ Markets Ontario, the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission, and the Federation of Agriculture.

HBM TOWNSHIP - PRODUCTION BLAST NOTICE

The Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen would like to notify residents on behalf of Drain Bros, there will be a production blast that will take place Tuesday, September 01, 2026 between 10am - 3pm.

The blast will occur mid quarry at the Havelock Quarry located at 6830 Hwy #7, Havelock.

George Street Construction Progress Report August 24 September 11, 2026

QBT is back at it again! After the recent temporary pause in work, construction resumed with the removal of the remaining existing sidewalk areas. Preparations have also begun for the new sidewalk placement. This will entail gravel placements and wood forming.

Upon the recommencement of construction, a site review has been completed with various agency representatives. It was noted and witnessed that many pedestrians were not staying within the designated sidewalk areas. To help provide further assistance and delineations, QBT has installed signage along with some additional barrels and taping oﬀ of the sidewalk areas.

PLEASE adhere to the pedestrian areas and do not travel through the construction site. The safety of pedestrians and staff is our priority, and we must comply with Construction Regulations. There will be large-sized construction equipment on both Oak and George Streets during this time.

The concrete crew is scheduled to begin the sidewalk pours the week of August 31st followed by the curb pours (weather permitting). Provided the weather holds, the roads are expected to be paved by September 18 and opened back up for traﬃc shortly thereafter.

We appreciate everybody’s co-operation as we move forward to ﬁnalize this work and kindly remind everyone that should you need any assistance of any kind during the construction, please do not hesitate to communicate directly with the construction staﬀ onsite.

We also remind you that all garbage and recyclables scheduled for regular pickup, are to be placed curbside in front of your home no later than 7am the morning of your collection date, such that adequate time is available for the construction crew to relocate appropriately to permit pickup.

This will be the last weekend to stop into the HBM Visitor Centre and say hi to our Summer Staff 🌞

Permanent resident? Out of town visitor? Peterborough County local? Anyone can stop by to visit our staff and to learn about great locations worth visiting within the Township of HBM and surrounding area!

A variety of brochures and maps available for taking.

Friday – 10:00am-12:00pm & 1:00pm to 6:00pm at the Farmers Market!

Update from yesterday. Please do Not cross the red tape 🚧 barriers and stay off of Oak Street while it is gravel. The best way to access the bakery is by walking down the taped off area where the sidewalk used to be from highway 7.
