Ribbon Skirt Making Class at Jasper House Métis District 7

We recently had the pleasure of hosting a ribbon skirt making class at the Jasper House District Office , taught by Elder Bernice Henry.

We were thrilled to see the beautiful projects our citizens created. Every skirt turned out wonderfully, and it was so special to see everyone’s creativity and hard work come together. ❤️

Keep your eyes open for information about our next sewing class! We’d love to see some new faces join us and share in the fun.

Jasper House Métis District recently attended an information session regarding the proposed All-Season Resort in the Grande Cache area.

Greenview is exploring having Crown land near Grande Cache considered by the Province of Alberta for designation as an All-Season Resort Area. This designation does not approve a resort or authorize construction, but we believe it is important that our community has a voice early in the process.

We want to hear from our citizens about the proposed area shown on the map.

Have you or your family traditionally used these lands? Are there areas important for:

🌿 Harvesting, berry picking or gathering
🦌 Hunting
🎣 Fishing
🪤 Trapping
🌱 Medicinal plants
🏕️ Camping or traditional travel routes
🧡 Cultural or historically significant places

We also want to hear your thoughts on the potential socio-economic impacts — both opportunities and concerns — including local employment, business opportunities, tourism, infrastructure, housing and how increased development could affect Grande Cache and surrounding communities.

Mobile Services Units are coming to Jasper House District!

Rupertsland Institute will be visiting Grande Cache and Hinton. Métis citizens can stop by to learn more about education funding, apprenticeship programs, certificate courses, and employment services.

Registration for the Meal kit partnership with Goodfood is now open!

Healthy food, less stress, and zero cost to families. In partnership with Goodfood, the School Food Program is relaunching Nourishing Families today!

These easy-to-prepare meal kits include simple recipes and pre-portioned ingredients. They are delivered right to your home mid-September. Heading back to school is a stressful time for everyone in the family, but cooking together doesn’t have to be.

Families who have already received a meal-kit box from Goodfood can re-apply! Families who have not already received a box will be given priority to ensure no eligible family is left without!

We had a wonderful weekend at the 98th Annual Citizens' Gathering. Special thanks to the Slave Lake Métis District for hosting us Thursday night at Big Fish Bay Resort with a fantastic barbecue and live entertainment. We'd also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many Jasper House citizens that travelled to be there. It was so nice to see familiar faces from Fort McMurray, Drayton Valley, Fort Edmonton, and many communities across Alberta. Thank you to everyone who made the gathering so memorable. Until next year ♾️
