🦃🔥 TURKEY FRYER SAFETY: KEEP THE HOLIDAYS FROM GOING UP IN FLAMES!
Deep-fried turkey can be delicious, but turkey fryers can also cause serious fires and burns when used improperly. Before you fire up the fryer, keep these safety tips in mind!
🚒 Stay safe while frying:
✅ Fry outdoors only. Keep your fryer well away from your home, garage, deck, fences, and anything that can catch fire. Never use it indoors or in an enclosed space.
✅ Thaw your turkey completely. A frozen or partially frozen turkey can cause hot oil to violently overflow, leading to a serious fire.
✅ Keep it dry. Water and hot oil don't mix! Make sure your turkey is fully thawed and patted dry before lowering it into the oil.
✅ Watch the oil level. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and avoid overfilling. Oil can overflow when the turkey is lowered into the pot.
✅ Monitor the temperature. Overheated cooking oil can ignite. Never leave your fryer unattended.
✅ Protect yourself. Wear appropriate protective gear, use proper lifting equipment, and keep children and pets well away from the fryer.
🚨 If the oil catches fire, NEVER use water to put it out! Water can cause burning oil to spread explosively. Never attempt to move a burning fryer. Call 911 if a fire starts and you cannot safely control it.
🔥 A little preparation goes a long way. Enjoy your turkey, follow the manufacturer's instructions, and make fire safety part of your holiday plans.
