Your voice for nature!

Located in the pristine boreal forest of Northern Saskatchewan, the Sakitawak IPCA is mandated to protect 22,000 kilometers of untouched forest.

In June 2021, we conducted 22 interviews in the community of Ile-À-La-Crosse, Saskatchewan and filmed the area of the N-14 fur block.

River Voices Productions helped us produce this short film to share the voices of our community.

Thanks to the support from Environment and Climate Change

Thank you to Drew Anderson and The Narwhal for their time and attention to the Metis community of Sakitawak!

Thank you to Drew Anderson and The Narwhal for their time and attention to the Metis community of Sakitawak!

The historic fur-trading community of Île-à-la-Crosse wants to create an Indigenous protected area named Sakitawak to protect the region's forests, ways of life and vast carbon stores. Getting the province on board has proved to be a challenge

Please join us for a discussion on Climate Change and the effects on the boreal forest.

A la Baie Metis Local 21 is inviting community members to a meeting on Tuesday, February 22 at 6:00 pm at the Friendship Centre.

This meeting will allow community members to view and provide input on Mistik Management and L&M Wood Products 2022-2027 Operating Plan. According to a Duty to Consult trigger letter received last week, Mistik plans to commence forestry operations on April 1, 2022.

As part of the Duty to Consult, Sakitawak community members have every right to see the cut plans of Mistik Management and provide input.

If you cannot attend this meeting, the Sakitawak IPCA is available to show community the maps and intention of Mistik.

The Sakitawak IPCA is located at the Ile a la Crosse Friendship Centre.
