🚨 IT’S TEST YOUR SMOKE ALARM DAY! 🚨

Working smoke alarms are one of the most important ways to protect yourself and your family — whether you’re at home, in an apartment, at the camp, or anywhere you sleep.

With the materials used in many everyday household items, fires can spread quickly, leaving you with as little as 2–3 minutes to safely escape. Smoke alarms can alert you within seconds of detecting smoke, giving you those precious moments to get out.

🔥 Test your smoke alarms today!

✔️ Make sure you have working alarms on every level of your home and near sleeping areas.
✔️ Teach your children where the smoke alarms are and involve them in testing them.
✔️ Have a fire escape plan and practice it together.
✔️ Choose a safe meeting place outside where everyone can gather and be accounted for.

Teaching children about fire safety today helps create a future generation that understands, respects and takes fire safety seriously.

Test your alarm. Know your plan. Get out safe. 🚒

🚒⚡ A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO EVERYONE WHO MADE TODAY’S EV TRAINING A SUCCESS! ⚡🚒

A special thank you to Adam McFadden with Firehouse Training for providing today’s EV training session and sharing your knowledge, experience and expertise with us. NSFFC was proud to bring Adam in and cover the cost of today’s training so our firefighters and emergency response partners could have the opportunity to learn and train together. 👏

Thank you to all the firefighters who attended from different departments. It’s great to learn and grow alongside other firefighters. We may wear different department shirts, but when we arrive on scene, we’re all working toward the same goal.

A huge thank you as well to the paramedic, OPP officer and tow truck drivers who took the time to attend. Learning together, training together and building those working relationships is so important. You never know when you’ll show up on scene together, and having that familiarity and understanding of each other’s roles can make a difference. 🤝

🚗 Thank you to Trans Can Service Centre for providing the vehicle for today’s hands-on training.

🚒 A special thank you to Blind River Fire Department (BRFD) for the use of your hall and apparatus today. We truly appreciate you opening your doors and providing the space and resources that helped make today’s training possible.

💚 Thank you to GFL Environmental for your generous sponsorship and support of NSFFC. Your contribution helps us provide valuable training opportunities like today’s EV session and invest in the continued education and development of firefighters and emergency responders.

🍽️ NSFFC was also happy to support our local businesses by having today’s meals prepared by 17 Restaurant and Touch of Home. Thank you for helping keep everyone fueled throughout the day — the food was absolutely delicious and greatly appreciated!

Today was about more than EV training. It was about bringing different emergency services and departments together to learn, train and grow as a team.
