ISKUT VALLEY HEADSTART IN COLLABORATION WITH ISKUT BAND EDUCATION DEPARTMENT - SALMON PRESERVATION WORKSHOP RECAP

️What an incredible few days of learning, sharing, and working together!

🐟 Our Salmon Preservation Workshop brought community members of all ages together to preserve more than just salmon. It was an opportunity to share knowledge, strengthen connections, and pass on traditions that are an important part of who we are.

Together, we processed 100 salmon, prepared 36 cases, and supported 19 families. Every jar represents teamwork, generosity, and a commitment to keeping our culture strong for future generations.

✨ A huge thank you to everyone who came out to participate, lend a hand, and learn from one another. Special thanks to our amazing crew, Fabian, Keith, Porsha, Taylor, and Mercedes, whose dedication and hard work made this workshop possible. After three full days of effort, the results speak for themselves!

The Tahltan Leadership Council (TLC) was pleased to meet today with Natascha Viljoen, President and Chief Executive Officer of Newmont Corporation.

The TLC was represented by President Kerry Carlick, Vice President Kim Marion, Secretary-Treasurer Carol Danielson, Chief Marie Quock, Deputy Chief Feddie Louie and Chief Rocky Jackson.

The visit included the unveiling of the new Red Chris sign, created by talented Tahltan artist Huey Carlick.

It was a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships, recognize Tahltan artistry and continue important conversations about the future of Red Chris and the partnership between the Tahltan Nation and Newmont.
