🔥 Cypress County has enacted a fire ban due to extreme fire hazard conditions

❌ The following are NOT allowed:
• Fireworks
• Incinerators
• Burning barrels
• Solid fuel barbecues (charcoal)
• Recreational campfires
• Chimeneas
• Fires in designated camping and recreational areas
✅ The following remain allowed:
• Recreational fire pits (see our fire control document for details)
• Internal household fireplaces
• Propane or natural gas-fueled appliances
• Wood pellet smokers

🔥Now is the time to check your bale stacks for hot spots.

💧With the moisture we received earlier this week and the warmer temperatures, your bale stack can hold onto significant amounts of moisture. High heat and moisture levels can result in spontaneous combustion of stored feed, especially green or hotter feed.

✅Check them in the mornings when temperatures are cooler
✅Use a heat gun, bale probe or any other tool that give you a temperature reading
✅Check the inside of your stacks
✅If you find a hot bale - open up your bale stack and remove any hot bales
✅Split large feed stacks into smaller groupings will help reduce fire risk

🚬Don’t be a butt!

🔥Tossing cigarette butts out your vehicle window can easily start a fire.

🌧️Even though we got a lot of moisture, throwing a butt can be damaging to farmers, ranchers and producers. A small fire can become a large fire very quickly.

🚬Dispose of cigarette butts responsibly.

🚨 See a fire or accident?

Here’s what to do:
✅ If it’s safe, pull over and call 9-1-1. Stay where you are while calling—this helps dispatchers pin your exact location.
✅ Give as much info as possible. Dispatchers ask lots of questions to help first responders. Please be patient.
✅ Call even if you think someone else already did.
✅ Stay on scene until first responders arrive.

Things NOT to do:
❌ Don’t keep driving while calling—this gives an inaccurate location and delays help.
❌ Don’t call your buddy on the fire department—ALWAYS call 9-1-1 first.
❌ Don’t call 9-1-1 unless you’re sure it’s an emergency.

🔥Effective Wednesday, May 27 the Fire Restriction in the Special Areas is lifted.

📝Controlled Burn Notifications are required for any type of burning, except campfires and incinerator fires. Safe campfires are allowed in campgrounds and random camping areas.
