The beauty and uniqueness of a bonsai tree is produced by subjecting a natural organism to the restrictions of a small soil-pot and the challenges of devastating pruning. A well tended bonsai can be a testament to both the frailty and the resilience of life. People from all cultures can identify with the beauty of something o

r someone who has faced adversity and overcome it. In my 10 years working with leading designers in the beautiful and affluent Okanagan Valley, I have had the opportunity to work on projects of limitless scale and budget; however, the projects that really thrill me are the ones with challenging restrictions. Like in the art of bonsai the most beautiful and compelling home designs rise up out of adversity. Questions desire answers. Problems require solutions. Limitations inspire creativity. My favourite part of design is learning the lifestyle of my clients and designing them a home that fits the way they live - balancing their values and accommodating their habits.
