We have some big (and very heartfelt) updates to share ❤️
Over the past five months, we’ve been incredibly fortunate to call the kitchen at Catered Affairs home. Owner Natalie Castellas has shown us a level of generosity that simply can’t be overstated - from flexible, supportive rental terms to genuine encouragement every step of the way.
Quite honestly, we could not have done this without her.
As Catered Affairs heads into their busy season (which we love to see!), we’re making a temporary move while we continue the search for a permanent home. We’re very grateful to be shifting much of our weekly cooking to St. John’s United Church — having a space to land means everything.
That said… moving from a fully equipped commercial kitchen into a more modest space means we need to build up our own equipment supply — and this is where our amazing community comes in.
We’re looking for donations of commercial kitchen equipment, especially:
- Large pots & stock pots
- Hotel pans (full size or mixed)
- Soup (round, large) inserts + lids
- Mixing bowls & large salad bowls
- Ladles, tongs, spoons, scoops, spatulas, whisks
- Sheet pans & baking tools
- Food storage containers (with lids)
- Food-grade buckets (with lids)
- Commercial blender / immersion blender / food processor
- Chafing dishes / serving ware
- Food transport - cambro / large cooler
- Wire/Metro shelving or rolling racks
- Working (used ok) refrigerator / and freezer (such as chest freezer)
- Maybe even commercial appliances such as ovens or stoves for our ‘someday home’ (if you happen to have them tucked away!)
If you have items in a barn, garage, or basement that could help us cook for the community, we would be so grateful.
We also want to say thank you — again and again — to Natalie and the entire Catered Affairs team for your kindness, flexibility, and patience. You helped us get off the ground in a real way, and that impact will last.
And to everyone who has supported us so far as volunteers, with donations, and encouragement — thank you. This work is only possible because of you.
We remain committed to our core goals: addressing food insecurity and reducing social isolation in our community. This next step is just part of the journey.
If you can help with equipment (or know someone who can), please reach out!
