There is still time to get your 2026 dog tag! 🐶🐕

We are pleased to advise that the 2026 City of Kenora dog licence is now available for purchase.

In accordance with By-law No.150-2010, all dog owners are required to license their dog annually no later than March 31 of each year, or within seven days of becoming a dog owner. Licensing helps ensure the safety of pets and supports responsible ownership within our community.

If a dog is picked up by a By-law Enforcement Officer and is wearing a valid City of Kenora dog tag, every effort will be made to return the dog home at no cost. If the officer is unable to return the dog and the owner is not home, a notification will be left and the dog will be transported to the pound. Pound fees apply to all impounded animals, and the free ride home incentive does not apply to repeat occurrences.

Licences may be purchased in person at City Hall during regular business hours or complete the online form. For assistance, please contact Customer Service at 807-467-2000.

If you no longer have the dog previously registered or have acquired a new dog, please contact us so our records can be updated accordingly.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep Kenora a safe and pet-friendly community.

Looking for your lost cat? Here is some useful information along with a link that might just help get your fur baby home sooner!

A lost cat will behave very differently depending on if they are used to going outside or not. If your cat normally goes outside, there was likely some event that caused them to become lost (such as being chased by a dog), they may have been injured and are unable to return home, or they were intentionally or unintentionally trapped. When indoor cats who normally don’t go outside become lost, they are almost always hiding somewhere nearby – it’s just a matter of figuring out where! Often it will be within a very short distance of your house.
The good news is that research indicates that 72% of found cats return home on their own! But be sure to also actively search your neighborhood for them. Missing cats are most often found within a few houses of home, especially if they are not used to being outdoors. They will hunker down in silence, even if you are frantically calling them nearby. This is why a thorough search of your property, and neighboring properties is so important. For some great information about lost cat behavior, please visit
https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/lost-cat-behavior/
In addition to regularly checking for your cat on this page, please also ensure that you search your neighborhood thoroughly, and post notices with a photo of your cat. It is also often helpful to place notices in the mailboxes of nearby houses and ask your neighbors to check their yards.

Understanding lost cat behavior or missing cat behavior is important for recovery depending on your type of cat, are they an Indoor-Only Cat, Outdoor-Access Cat or Outdoor-Only Cat
